The Inca Trail leads through mountains, jungles, and a number of significant archaeological complexes and sites, ending in the magnificent Machu Picchu. You have to use a local company to secure a hiking permit for specific days. The government caps the daily number of people on the trail to 500, including porters and guides who outnumber the visitors. We engaged Andina Travel for permits, guides and porters. They were responsive and knowledgeable and provided a good crew. They can also arrange tours to the Sacred Valley, Rainbow Mountain and Cusco.
