The Kumudra Hill – Mountain View Hotel sits on a high hill on the edge of the town and is a relatively short walk to the Hsipaw waterfall. It has panoramic views of the valley, a swimming pool, jacuzzi on the roof and free shuttle service to the downtown. The top-floor restaurant serves interesting Myanmar cuisine and the Wi-Fi is cellular based using SIM cards, which made it more reliable. The decorations and furniture are from, or compatible with, traditional Myanmar styles. The owner Thomas de Van, a Frenchman who lives there and manages operations, finished building the hotel in 2018. He has lived in Myanmar for several years and provides historical context and personal experiences about how the country really functions.
